HIV is Not a Crime National Training Academy (HINAC) is a biennial gathering of people living with HIV (PLHIV), HIV policy leaders and other stakeholders, primarily from the U.S., that educates and trains advocates and centers PLHIV leadership to end HIV criminalization, mass incarceration, racism and social injustice
HINAC supports intentional and proactive involvement of community activists and PLHIV networks as part of a larger agenda to end disproportionate policing and incarceration of communities of color, trans and non-binary gender nonconforming individuals, sex workers, and substance users.
HINAC helps ensure that these grassroots advocacy and mobilization efforts are informed by the latest science and research, effective messaging and expert strategic guidance from experienced grassroots activists, public health, legal and policy professionals.
